So there's a pool table here at the hostel, but it's not like anything I've seen.
Typical table, but instead of all of the numbered balls, the only ball that has a number is the 8 ball. It's black, but then the other 14 are all solid. Half of them are red, and the other half are yellow. They seem to be a little smaller in diameter as well. Anyone know if this is common for Europe?

Billiards refers to pretty much any game played on a felted surface with 4 corner pockets (and occassionally 2 side pockets depending on the game being played).
Snooker usually uses 15 red balls, one white, and some yellow (can't remember the number).
If the balls were smaller than 8 Ball or 9 Ball balls, then I'm pretty sure it is snooker.
It is predominantly played in England, Ireland, and Scotland.
